In Memory

Roger Brown

Roger Allan Brown

JANUARY 16, 1945 – MAY 2, 2023

Roger Allan Brown was born on January 16th, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas He was a resident of Houston, Texas, Crested Butte, Colorado and also had a home in Acapulco, Mexico. He was a life long Catholic and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 2nd in Houston, Texas.

Roger graduated from The University of Oklahoma holding a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Juris Doctorate from the OU College of Law. He was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. His business career started with the practice of law in Oklahoma City in 1969 and then moved to Houston in 1976 to begin what would be a successful forty plus year career in the energy industry. Roger served in numerous chief legal and top executive roles at Dresser Industries, Camco International, Hycalog, Reed Rock Bits, Reda Pump, GeoDiamond and Smith International. He also served on numerous Board of Directors, including McDermott International, Ultra Energy, and Boart Longyear. The Houston energy community is replete with a long list of successful people who got their start working with Roger Brown.

Roger loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Astros, Rockets, Oilers, and Texans. He loved the game of golf and proudly shared his passion for the links with his wife Linda.

To reflect his creative side, Roger penned a compelling novel styled “Created Equal”, that was successfully adapted into a dramatic feature film that chronicled the arduous path of a Catholic nun attempting to challenge centuries of Church tradition to become a Catholic priest.

While his business and professional successes were notable and many, they were secondary to his true love in life, his family and friends. Roger cherished his friendships and loved his family more than anything. Nothing made him smile more than Linda, his children and grandchildren. Putting family and friends first was not an obligation for Roger, but a pleasure.

His wonderful legacy will live on by all who remember the twinkle in his eye, his love of a good joke, his trademark laugh and his spirited zest for living. Gone from this earth, but never forgotten.
