Jonetta (Van Horn) Waller
September 22, 1944 - February 3, 2024
Jonetta Marie (VanHorn) Waller, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the age of 79. She was born on September 22, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy Johns VanHorn and Frances Marie (Hemmer) VanHorn. Jonetta enjoyed card games, family time, and singing in choirs. Jonetta also loved baking breads for everyone during the holidays and visiting Branson to see all the shows with her true love, Doug. Boomerang was a favorite Monday night stop for Jonetta and Doug, since they have a half-price burger special. Jonetta loved watching the Oklahoma State Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys play football, who she affectionately called “her boys”. Her favorite TV shows were Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, NCIS, crime shows, and all of the Hallmark movies. Jonetta was a proud member of the Oklahoma City Community Church.
Growing up, Jonetta’s family spent some time living in Pecos, Texas, however most of her life was spent living in Oklahoma City and Moore, Oklahoma. She was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts. She loved singing in the choir throughout her childhood and into adulthood. Jonetta was a graduate of Bishop McGuinness High School, class of 1962. She also attended Central State College (now UCO) and Oklahoma City Community College.
Jonetta married the love of her life, Doug, on October 16, 1964, and they were married for 56 years until Doug’s passing in 2020. Jonetta worked alongside Doug at Silver Star Construction, and retired after 25 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Jonetta was kind, caring and so incredibly proud of her family. She loved spending time with her family, but especially her granddaughters.
Jonetta is survived by her son, Douglas Dwain Waller, Jr. & wife, Robin, of Tuttle; daughter, Tiffany Dawn Hardeman of Choctaw; granddaughters Brittney Waller and Tara Hardeman; brother-in-law Rory Pietsch; and many nieces and nephews. Jonetta is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Dwain Waller, Sr.; her parents, Roy Johns VanHorn and Frances Marie VanHorn; sister, Frances Ann Pietsch; nephew, Brian Russell Pietsch; and son-in-law, Steven Lynn Hardeman
